Mercy Culture Conference
Not only did I get to design for Mercy Culture Conference, but I also had the opportunity shoot for the weekend. The rush of shooting in a stadium of over 10,000 seats is not only a leg day, but it also makes for the most energetic atmosphere. When we moved it back to the Church Sanctuary the following year, I expected it to be a little less exciting, but the only thing that it lacked was the extra few miles of climbing stairs to get a wide shot.
With the brand leaning towards a cinematic feel, shooting for this conference, I focused on cinematic composition in my shots as well as adding creativity through dirty shots—shooting through objects and people. One of my other favorite techniques was to do close up shots with a wide lens giving a sort of distorted, 90s music video feel. This adds interest to a shot vs just being a portrait close up of a singer or musician.
